APPOINTED as Watford's Football Manager in March 2005, 37-year-old Adrian Boothroyd enjoyed a playing career which took in Huddersfield Town, Bristol Rovers, Heart of Midlothian, Mansfield Town and Peterborough United before having to retire through injury when aged just 26.

He was then appointed Under-17, Under-19 and Reserve Team Coach at Peterborough before joining Norwich City as their Youth Team Coach under Nigel Worthington in 2001.

In November 2003, he moved to West Bromwich Albion to assume the position of Youth Development Officer and Technical Director. He was appointed First Team Coach at Leeds United in the summer of 2004 before coming to Vicarage Road.

Since then Boothroyd has steered the Hornets away from relegation, and in only his first full season (2005/06) in charge of Watford helped the club to a third placed Championship finish and a Play-Off Final victory over Leeds United.

In his second full season, he has led the Hornets to the semi finals of the FA Cup where victory over Manchester United would see the Hornets reach the second FA Cup Final in 125-years of existence.

Despite being unable to fend off relegation a week later following a 1-1 draw with Manchester City, Boothroyd has vowed to bounce straight back as he prepares his squad for a season in the Championship.
