The French defender was signed close to deadline hour during the January transfer window in 2007.
Avinel caught the eye of Aidy Boothroyd during a trial at the club and after developing in the Hornets' second string team he made his full debut in the away victory over Reading during May 2007.
He put in a number of impressive performances for the reserve team and scored in their final game of the 2006/07 season during the victory over Arsenal.
