MATT Jackson has today left Watford Football Club and announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.

The former Wigan man signed for the Hornets on a free transfer in May 2007, but went on to only made eight starts throughout last season.

After a career than has spanned 17 years, including over 550 appearances, an FA Cup winners medal and two promotions, Jackson believes the time is right to move away from the game.
