STEWART LEAVES THE VIC
JORDAN Stewart has today (Wednesday) been released early by Watford Football Club, ahead of the end of his existing contract this summer.
The left-back, who was Aidy Boothroyd's first ever signing as manager, has featured in 117 games for the Hornets, making 104 starts during that time.
Stewart scored two goals for the Golden Boys, both of which came this season on the road at Wolves and Burnley.
Following Mat Sadler's arrival at the club in January Aidy Boothroyd has been unable to guarantee Stewart first team football.
Earlier this season the defender also decided against signing a new contract on offer and has since opted to execute his option to become a free agent in the summer.
Speaking of the decision to allow Stewart to leave ahead of the play-offs, manager Aidy Boothroyd said: "We had a chat and decided that it would be best if Jordan began the next chapter of his career now rather than later.
"Jordan has only ever wanted to play and I can't guarantee him that, especially at this stage of the season. He was my first signing and I will always remember him fondly for that.
"His smile was infectious and we'll miss him around the place, but we wish him well for the rest of his career."
