WATFORD have this evening (Thursday) drawn Southend in the second round of the Carling Cup.

After beating Gillingham 3-0 at Vicarage Road earlier this week, the Hornets' were very quickly out of the hat as one of the seeded clubs from round one.

Under the watchful eyes of draw masters Trevor Francis and Darren Ferguson Watford secured a tie at Roots Hall to be played week commencing 27 August 2007.

The teams have not met since 1998 when a 1-1 draw was played out at Vicarage Road, whilst Watford's last trip to Essex saw them win 3-0 in November 1997, a game in which Peter Kennedy secured a memorable hat-trick.
