LADIES NEW HOME
WATFORD Ladies will now play their FA Tesco Women's Premier League matches at Chestnut Avenue, the home of Northwood FC this season.
The move will see the Ladies team moving back to within a stones throw away from Vicarage Road after spending the first year as a Premier League club at the County Ground, Letchworth.
The agreement with Northwood FC will see the Ladies relocated back south of the county where it is hoped they can build on the success of their first season in the Premiership. Watford finished last season in seventh place and will be hoping to get nearer to the two top sides, Arsenal and Everton, this time around.
Rob Clarke, Watford FC's Girls and Women's Development Manager said: "I'm really pleased that Northwood FC have agreed to host our Ladies team this season and also by Northwood's ambition and attitude which matches our own.
"I have been especially pleased by their Chairman Ian Barry, who has already been so supportive in securing Watford's relocation and ensuring Watford Ladies can continue to grow and flourish.
"I'm excited at the prospect of working with Northwood FC. Like ourselves, they are really keen to provide for their community and to have competitive Women's Premiership football on our doorstep week-in and week-out can only be a good thing for everyone, especially if it can continue to raise the profile and attendance of the Women's game and increasing participation levels and providing for the next generation of female players."
Watford Ladies start their campaign away at Bristol Academy, then play their first home game at Chestnut Avenue on Sunday 24th August against newly-promoted Nottingham Forest Ladies.
