WATFORD LADIES
WATFORD Ladies FC is the result of a merger between Watford Ladies FC and Watford Town Girls FC.
However, there is more to the story which dates back to the 1970's when the original club was formed following a number of letters from interested supporters in starting a ladies football team. Since the 1970s Watford Ladies FC and Watford Town Girls FC have existed in some capacity - providing the girls and ladies of Hertfordshire with an opportunity to play football.
At the present time, Watford Ladies is the leading women's football club in Hertfordshire and they compete in the FA Tesco Women's Premier League - National Division, which they were promoted to in 2007.
They were lead to the top flight by current manager Sian Williams who took charge in 2006 and is a former Arsenal, Charlton and England player. Along with coach Matt Ward they have taken the team to new heights having won the Southern Division title by 10 points and only losing three games all season.
The club was awarded Charter Standard Club status in 2004 and has continued to provide football for all ages. In September 2007 a link was established with Watford FC through its Community, Sports and Education Trust.
