TOTAL DRIVE TIME: 3 hours 40 minutes.
Post code: FY1 6JJ
BY TRAIN:
Blackpool South is the closest station, only a few minutes walk from the ground. However, the majority of away fans find themselves arriving at Blackpool North which is a couple of miles away and it's probably worth considering a taxi or bus if that's the case.
This coming weekend is a Bank holiday and as such, the authorities have in their wisdom decided to work on the lines.
If you're patient and still want to travel by train, here's how you could do it - the very best of luck to you!
At 02.45 (yes, 02.45), you will leave Watford Junction on a London Midland bus to Bletchley, arriving at 03.55. Spend three hours there before getting the 06.55 London Midland bus to Northampton.
You will have 27 minutes to kill there before leaping upon the 08.22 London Midland bus to Coventry, arriving at 09.54. At 10.04, you're on the move again, on the London Midland train that gets you to Birmingham New Street at 10.37. Then it's time the 11.03 Virgin train to Preston, arriving at 12.39. At 12.48 you're on the Transpennine Express to Blackpool North, arriving at 13.16.
You haven't got home yet of course. The 17.25 Northern rail service from Blackpool North to Preston is your starting point, reaching there at 17.52. Catch the 18.00 Virgin train to Birmingham International, getting you in at 19.58. Then it's the 20.13 Cross Country service to Leamington Spa - we're not making this up - getting in at 20.40. At 20.53 collect the Chiltern service to Marylebone which gets in at 22.49 and from there your route of choice from London to Watford. All the best!
PARKING: Plentiful. Although it's worth comparing prices as they range a fair amount.
AWAY END: 1,700 seats in the East Temporary Stand. This is uncovered so prepare yourself for the elements!
PROGRAMME COST: £3.50
RESTAURANTS: Take a walk along the promenade and you find you can choose from hundreds of restaurants. There isn't too much by the ground however so drop by The Auctioneer (a Wetherspoons) on Lytham Road for value food and drink.
PUBS: Blackpool claims to have more public houses per square mile than anywhere else in Britain so you really are spoiled for choice.
Avoid The George as it is for home fans however other pubs with home fans present are more than welcoming providing you are not too vocal. The Bloomfield is always a good option for a few beers before the game.
