AIDY Boothroyd was happy to grab a last-gasp point against Cardiff at Vicarage Road but the boss would have gladly swapped today's result around with the away win on Saturday.

Watford's sticky home form has been well publicised of late and the Yorkshireman wanted a home present for all Watford fans at the Vic this Boxing Day lunchtime.

He said: "I was thrilled we got back into the game today but again we were nowhere near it, we were very, very poor.

"You get a lot of strange results at this time of year and we had to make sure that we opened up a gap at the top.

"Looking at the big picture, we would have taken four points from two games but we'd love to swap that around with a home win.

"We know its not good enough by our standards, we need to be winning these games, dominating them and performing well."

The Bluebirds impressed and goals from Roger Johnson and Peter Whittingham looked to have sunk the Golden Boys.

It was a case of another visiting team stifling Boothroyd's men. The gaffer added: "Cardiff came here and they waited for us and they were encouraged by our lack of creativity.

"They were by far the better team in the first half and even in the second half really, we didn't do what we do well. They came here expecting a whirlwind and they got more of a light breeze."

Jobi McAnuff's second goal in as many games took a point from his former club and the winger is just starting to come into form at the right time for the boss.

"It was a terrific finish from him and he's in form at the minute and scoring goals."
