DON'T GET CARRIED AWAY
AIDY Boothroyd warned that his side would not be carried away with their fifth win in a row and stressed his concerns that nothing had been achieved yet.
The gaffer had just seen his side triumph 2-0 over Crystal Palace in a scrappy game, but warned that it was far too early to pop any champagne corks, after all: "We haven't even had bonfire night yet."
"I didn't think we were at our best tonight, not by a long way, but it's nice to keep winning even when you don't play at your best and I'm delighted that we got the result for the away support.
"We got the result and that was the main thing. We won't be getting carried away as I think there is a great danger that we can pose to ourselves if we think it's all over now.
"We're always one game away from another 4-1 thrashing like we got against Leicester and I still maintain that was the best result we've got all season, because it made us kick on and drove us to an as yet unbeaten run."
Boothroyd had words of praise for the on loan Adam Johnson who picked up the Man of the Match award.
"I've spoken to Gareth Southgate to enquire about extending his loan deal. We're a few months off of his original deal expiring and of course we'd love to have him here for a little longer.
"Personally I think he could do with a year of Championship under his belt." He smiled.
"But it was tough tonight, it could have gone either way as Palace had their chances. When we're at it we look like a good team, but I have maintained all season long that there is still a long way to go yet."
