FAR from being satisfied with Watford's last-gasp win at Wolves yesterday, Hornets boss Aidy Boothroyd has vowed to right the wrongs from his side's Molineux performance.

A last minute penalty from Marlon King was enough to give the Vicarage road men a winning start to the season, but for Boothroyd it was just too close for comfort.

When asked whether perseverance was the key to his side's victory Boothroyd said: "There are a lot of other p-words I could use for that, poor being my favourite. Overall I can't believe we have won to be honest.

"I said to the players the key ingredients for winning games consistently are attitude and character and we showed plenty of that today, but I promised them I won't be brushing it under the carpet, we've got a load of work to do, because we are nowhere near where I want us to be.

"We talk about making sure we get winning behaviours right and in the first half I thought we played some good stuff, we got in behind them, we teased them, we managed to get the ball into areas without making it count and ended up going in 1-0 down.

"Second half we were really poor at times and Wolves were the better team, yet me managed to score two because we kept going to the very end."

Aside from the goal scorers Jordan Stewart and Marlon King, Boothroyd chose to heap praise on Steve Kabba, who came in from the cold to win the decisive penalty.

"He been like Grizzly Adams he's been that far in the wilderness, I didn't even take the lad on tour, but credit to him.

"I think everybody deserves a chance and if you are showing form I don't have favourites, I don't like anybody.

"The situation being that he wasn't in my plans but has had a great pre-season, gets his head down, gets on with it and earns a penalty. So now, he has to keep that going and if he does then he has given himself a chance of the starting line-up."
